Busy week!

HI guys!! Its been a very busy week for Kiss the Bride! I went to Seattle with my husband from Monday to Thursday then rushed home from the airport to go to the Souly Wedding Vendors networking party at Sterling Hills Golf Course! It was such a successful night! Tons of brides and a fashion show, So much fun!! Then Saturday we had two weddings. We had a great time this week and look forward to more just like this! Teague Pilates Movement Center

Hey guys!
So lets say today you decide you want to start doing Pilates... Well I have the perfect place for you to go, they are called Teague Pilates located at 29020 Agoura Rd, CA 91301.

This is the most beautiful Pilates facility I have ever seen! Its so relaxing, crisp, clean and fresh in there. Not only do they have 1 Pilates facility but they have 2! One side is for the main Pilates: equipment, mat classes, etc. The other side is for all of their treatments, such as, the Far Infrared Sauna (which is a sauna, but you can wear your clothes into it and you don't come out smelling afterwards, it also releases more toxins from your body than a normal sauna), the Turbo Sonic Machine (which is this vibrating machine that you stand on and it vibrates really fast and you do it for 10 minute sessions and it helps get rid of cellulite, improves your posture and burns as many calories as if you went on a 30 minute run!!!!) They also do a fitness evaluation on your body. They check your body fat,weight,which side of your body is stronger than the other (so they know what parts of the body to work more), and many other tests. This place is amazing. Lindsey and I just signed up for a 2 year membership! Its a very reasonably priced Pilates facility and the staff and teachers are very professional and knowledgeable. If you are thinking about Pilates to get in shape for your wedding dress, honeymoon, or just to get healthier and feel better about your self, then look into Teague Pilates Movement Center.

This last weekend I did my husbands cousin, Nicole's make-up for her senior pictures. We had such a good time and she is such a sweet and good girl! Not to toot my own horn or anything but I'm pretty sure her pictures are going to come out fabulous! :)

Flowers are such an essential part of a wedding. There are so many styles of flowers that you can find, punk rock, traditional, funky, themed flowers, and many more. Figure out which part of your personality you would like to highlight and go with it. Florists these days are amazing! There's another Souly Wedding Vendor Bridal Soiree coming up this month. This one will be held at McCormick Home Ranch in Camarillo one week from tonight, Thursday, August 20th at 6PM. Van Nuys, CA

Hey guys!

I just wanted to make everyone aware of the parking laws in Van Nuys, CA. Last week I went out there to do a bridal consultation and I parked on the street where there was meter parking. I went up to the brides apartment, did the consultation, and came back down to leave and to my shock and disbelief my car was missing!!!!! First thing that went through my head was " Oh great my car got stolen". So I further investigated the scene of the crime and come to find out there is no parking in the spot that I parked from 4-7pm monday through friday. My car wasnt stolen, it was TOWED!!! A good amount of money later I was able to get my beloved car out of the tow yard, the next day. As the tow truck driver delivered my car to me I saw a paper on my windsheild and said "sir you forgot something" and he said "oh no thats for you, its a parking ticket" so much to my suprise not only did I pay a nice chunk of cash to get my car out of the tow yard, I also had a pretty pricey parking ticket on my car! So the moral of this story is to never park on the streets in Van Nuys even when someone tells you its ok to park there, unless you CAREFULLY read the signs on the street!!

Westlake Bridal Expo

Today Elizabeth (from Phase4Photography) and I went to the Westlake Hyatt bridal expo. We had the pleasure of running into a lot of beautiful brides, some with friends and some with their fiances. One bride (monica) in particular that made an impression on us was there with her fiance Isaac. They are the cutest couple ever!! They have such great personalities and seem to be so in love!!! We have met them in the past at other bridal events and they are always so nice to us! We are crossing our fingers that they book us because we would love to be a part of their fabulous wedding. It would be an honor and so much fun! Im sure their family friends must be amazing if they are anything like them!!

A dream come true...

So today I'm sitting here reflecting on the first 7 months of our business and i just can not believe where we are! Kiss the Bride Make-up has been an idea of ours for 6 years and last December we finally decided to turn our idea into a reality, we got our business license,started advertising, and focusing really hard. I mean really we only started this business in January and we have already had 30 weddings booked. This is the craziest year we have had so far and it feels so amazing. I feel so accomplished and its only been 7 months. I can not wait to see where we are next July! Wish us luck!!

Here comes the BRIDE....

Hey everyone!!

So what is going on? hmmmmm

Well wedding season has definitely started!! We are some busy bee's!!! At the moment we are considering hiring an assistant because of our busy schedule. I'm still sore from last Saturday. We had 2 weddings and 2 parties that day, it was wild! Our job rocks!!!

Another thing that is going on is that Lindsey and I are looking in to patenting an invention to help make-up artists everywhere! We will keep you posted!!

Just breathe.....

Hi all you future beautiful brides!!
I wanted to write a blog today giving you our #1 piece of advice for your special day. We give all of our brides this advice... On your wedding day make sure to just take a breathe, and take in the whole day. The day goes by very fast and you never want to look back on your wedding and not remember what happened. I have to admit that is my story. It went by so fast and I didn't even think about taking everything in and now half of the day is no longer in my memory. So enjoy your day, enjoy your friends and family and most of all your new husband! This is the most important day of your lives and you want to remember it as long as you live! Also, everything always ends up working out just perfectly, so don't stress over the small stuff you wont even notice if there are 5 candles on the table or 6. (that's not the best example i could give but that's the first thing that came to mind) :)

Eyes

The reason why eyes are the most important part of the make-up process is because your eyes are usually the focal point for your special day. When your saying your vows and looking into your soon to be husbands eyes he is doing the same too you. Therefore you want to make sure they are as beautiful as they can be!!! In the picture above is a beautiful example of make-up that clearly makes her eyes pop!! One more thing if you want your LIPS to be the focal point make sure to keep your eyes simple and although you can add some lashes ,which will make them pop but at the same time keep from overwhelming your face with a bright lip!

Sunscreen
Have you ever heard the saying "prevention is the best cure?" Apply a broad-spectrum of SPF 15 or higher (preferably 30) every day!! Be sure it contains zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or parsol 1789. Try Clinique Super-city oil-free daily face protector SPF 30.

Water Proof Mascara
No raccoon eyes this summer!! Try choosing a formula with beeswax, because they tend to be more malleable or look for a tube labeled "water resistant" and be sure to use a good eye make-up remover before bed. Water Proof Shadow

Cheek & Lip stain
Cheek and lip stains are oil-free, water resistant and long wearing. Its a fabulous idea to achieve a rosy glow that will withstand a hot summer day.... or night! Top lips with your favorite gloss for added shine. Try using Benefit's Bene-tint cheek and lip stain.

Oil Blotters
To eliminate shine in seconds, nothing beats oil blotting papers... they are cheap, easy & amazing. Just press and go! No powder required. Shiseido Pureness oil blotting papers are great for that hot summer shine!

Today...

Today we went to the beach with the girls from Phase 4 Photography. The model for today canceled so we decided instead of canceling the shoot we would go to the beach and take pictures of ourselves!! It was absolutely the most amazing day ever! We had so much fun, goofing around, while working at the same time. And I managed to collect a few beach rocks for decoration! People pay like $20 at target or pier one for those rocks and I got them for FREE and had fun doing it. Basically today was a blast and I love the Phase 4 girls!!! Here are some pics.. enjoy!!

Take care of your skin...

Taking care of your skin is so important, especially if you are going to have your makeup done. Think of your face as if it were a blank canvas, just like any surface, you want to make sure it's clean before you apply the paint (makeup). If you start off with a clean face, the make-up will go on much smoother and it will look much more flawless. We definitely recommend getting a facial a couple weeks to a month before your wedding. You don't want to get one too close to your big day as some people can break out afterwards so you want to give your skin time to heal. For a great esthetician we recommend Connie Phillips her # is 805-279-6703 and she is based out of Simi Valley. We have had the pleasure of working with her before and she is very knowledgeable and talented. She will not only make you feel comfortable but she will also do an amazing job. She can also advise you on how far in advance you would want to schedule your facial and exactly what type of treatment would be best for your specific skin type. WEDDING MAKE-UP: Many brides prefer to have their makeup professionally applied on their wedding day rather than trying to do it themselves. It's smart to go for a trial run before the day of the wedding so that there are no surprises. You can either go to the makeup artist or the bridal makeup artist can meet you at your home or dressing site. Consider having him/her apply makeup for your mother, your fiancé's mother and your bridesmaids for a consistent look. In selecting a Ventura / Santa Barbara makeup artist, make sure s/he has been trained in bridal makeup for photography. It is very important to wear the proper amount of makeup for photographs.

Today we went to the most fabulous networking party at Cafe Firenze! We enjoyed meeting a lot of amazing vendors and beautiful brides. We can't wait for the next one. Thank you to Meghan and Vanessa, the owners of Soulmates bridal boutique, for putting on such an awesome event. It was so beautifully orchestrated and extremely organized. We had a blast!!

Getting Busy

Since we are starting to get busy with photoshoots and weddings, today we are getting all organized. Its gonna be a lot of work but worth it since we will be less stressed out. We love being busy and cant wait to get even busier!!!

Hey guys! We havent blogged in awhile, we have been so busy with photoshoots and weddings that we have put this on the side.. But now we are back in full effect! =)
Today we had a photoshoot with Phase 4 Photography and the most amazing model ever, Karina. It was so fun.. we got to play with styles of makeup and the poses were awesome.. Lindsey did an amazing job and we cant wait to see how the pics came out, we will post them soon.

1. Bronzer~ Warm up winter skin with a light dusting of bronzer on the high points of your face, and you'll be saying bye bye snow white. KTB recommends Physicians Formula wakiki strip/peachy glow bronzer for a steal or splurge on MAC refined golden bronzer.

2. Blush~ Pop a sheer wash of color on the apples of your cheeks for a glow of happiness that everyone will notice. Try a cream version for a fresh dewy finish. Splurge on Stila's convertible color in lillium or for a steal try Sally Hansen sheerest cream blush in Bloom.

3. Eyes~ Ditch those clumpy lashes... so last season! Try an eyelash curler to open your eyes and create that bright eyed look that will compliment any shadow! For a steal try a Revlon lash curler or splurge on a Shu Umera lash curler.

Today we had a gorgeous photo shoot in Santa Barbara! We went to the beach and walked, for what seemed like miles, up the coast. My girls at Phase 4 Photography rocked this shoot out today. I uploaded some pics from my cheesy camera because I couldn't wait to show off how fabulous today was!

Ventura County Bridal Expo

Today we went to the Ventura County Wedding Expo, which was an absolutely AMAZING day! The building was bursting at the seams with glowing brides! Our booth was filled with lips,music, make-up, and fun! We had 3 models, that wore our make-up, walking around with balloons tied to them while passing out our cards, ALL DAY(great sports)!! We sat soon to be brides down and gave them free make-up trials. Great day!

Welcoming new businesses

Tonight we went to a mixer for the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce's new business ribbon cutting ceremony. We had such a fabulous time and met so many new and interesting people, from a variety of different careers. One company that made a great impression on us was "Bling it on". This store was filled with every kind of jewelry you could imagine. From small and dainty to big and bulky! All of it was so beautiful and unique. Today, we did a fabulous photo shoot with Phase 4 Photography. One of the best photographers in Ventura County. We work together a lot and really enjoy the time we spend working with them, as well as the outcome of the photos that we receive afterward. We can't wait till the next time we work side by side! =)
